The Lady Rams traveled to Paw Paw this past Friday for a big divisional game in which the winner would have a chance to solidify a third place standing in the Wolverine Conference North division .
The lady Rams started off a bit slow and the rust definitely showed from having a full week off from practice due to school cancellations. But after the first quarter lady Rams settled in in their defense and offense started to flow.
“ I was nervous going in to this game since we hadn’t practiced in over a week and really didn’t have an opportunity to get into the gym to get some practice before this game so I knew it was going to be interesting to see how the girls would react from having so much time off and then having to play a big game for us.” Coach Holland said. “The plan was to go in and put a lot of pressure on the guards defensively and make sure we got our post players involved early since we knew we had a size advantage“ coach Holland added.
The second half the Rams came out just as strong holding Paw Paw to only 3 points. The Rams continued to put pressure on the guards and press the Redskins into the fourth quarter where they built a 20 point lead and holding their opponent in the fourth quarter to only 4 points.
“This was a great team victory and I was really proud of the girls. It was one of those games where everyone contributed and everyone got significant playing time. This year we have a very deep bench position wise and each girl is understanding the role and responsibilities when they get on the floor and they are doing that. Now we’re just looking forward to getting back into the gym and having some good practices the finish out the season strong and accomplish some goals that our team is sad that have not been done before.” Said Coach Holland
