Tuesday night the Rams played host to Berrien Springs, Brandywine and Comstock for a conference track meet. In a rare, odd instance, we are unsure who we were being scored against, So the Rams approached the meet as if we were scoring against Berrien Springs. Unfortunately the Rams came up quite short BUT not all was lost….The great thing about track and field is: there is always the chance to compete against yourself to try and better your own height, throw, put, jump or time. In many instances the warm night allowed us to do just that, improve our own standard. Before we get to the results, the Rams would like to thank the AWESOME volunteers we had that made the meet go very smoothly. As with all meets the day begins with the field events followed by the running events. With that said, here are the results:
Shot Put: The boys begin with William Bettis leading the way with a PR of 32’1” which was good for 3rd overall. Nick Bouquenoy was next up, and he also had a PR with a put of 29’7”. Jordan Fleming (26”5.5”) and Eli Morrison (21’2”) both add support. On the girls side of things it was Destiny Crowley (26’2.75”) leading the way with a 2nd place finish overall and a PR. Finishing 4th overall was Tabby Newberry (24’6”) also had a PR. Sydney Bettis (22’2.5”) had a PR and added support in the event as did Senior Marlyn Rosas-Garcia (17’10”).
Discus: The girls started their evening in the Discus and started it off with another PR from Destiny Crowley who threw the little saucer 64’5”. Tabby N. was a little off her best, because she had to run the 100M, but still had a good throw or 57’9”. Sydney (47’4””) was also in the 100M dash and was just off her best tonight. Every one of the guys had PR’s tonight with William (93’3”) leading the way…he is fast approaching the 100’ mark, keep it up!! Next up was Jordan (77’7”) followed by Nick (74’3”) and Eli (59’2”).
Pole Vault: Trevor gave it a try tonight but did not quite get it, his steps seemed to be off quite a bit….He’ll bounce back this Friday…. Ellie Frost competed on the girls’ side and came away with a season best 8’6” and also took 1st place overall.
Long Jump: The boys started off jumping first and Nathan Palmer took 1st overall with a leap of 21’ on his 2nd jump of the night….Chris Rainey bounced back from an off meet last week to jump 18’ and took 5th overall. Helping the team with a jump of 12’7” was Patrick Callaghan. The girls were led by Ilene Garcia (14’3”) finishing 4th overall and jumping a PR. 1st-3rd all jumped an equal distance of 14’6”, so Ilene was not far out of first place. Miah Sistrunk (14’1”) and Cianna Cox (13’1”) were also not far behind.
High Jump: For the first time this year we have an entrant in the high jump and that entrant is Dayshauna Crowley. Right out of the gate Dayshauna makes a name for herself as she jumps a PR or 5’, which also jumps her into 2nd place in the regional rankings. Congrats, and start pushing yourself, you can do great things here.

4×100: For the first time this season the girls put a relay team together and did an outstanding job with little practice and very little handoff practice. The team of Dayshauna Crowley, Jayauna Jefferies, Mish Sistrunk and Ilene Garcia ran the single lap in 55.88s. A little work and we should be right there in the hunt later this season. On the guys side, we went with our big guys team of Bouquenoy, Morrison (Eli that is), Fleming and anchor Bettis….keep up the great work guys.
400M: Ellie Frost led the way in this event by taking 1st with a season best 65.64s. Amelia ran her first of the year and a PR in 92.5s. Great job ladies!!! 300 Hurdles: Cianna started this event and ran a PR in 54.46s. The finish was very exciting as it was literally a photo finish with her edging the 2nd place finisher by .01s. She is working hard and it is paying off…. Chris Rainey led the guys race and ran a PR of 45.89s..once again improving every day. Trevor was less than a second off his PR as he finished in 3rd.
