Practices for high school football begin on Monday, August 10, and practices for all other high school fall sports begin on Wednesday, August 12. See the South Haven Athletics Website, or South Haven Athletics Facebook Page, for start times and locations.
The COVID pandemic has made everything more complicated and South Haven Athletics is working hard to kick off practice in the safest way possible. The following are some pieces of information for high school athletes and their parents as we prepare to start fall sports practices.
Health — Athletes will be screened before every practice or competition until further notice. If you are feeling unwell, or exhibiting any of symptoms consistent with COVI-19, please contact your coach and DO NOT come to practice. South Haven Athletics will be following guidance from the MHSAA, CDC and local health department, and anyone showing symptoms of illness will be sent home.
Physicals — All athletes wishing to participate in HS Athletics must satisfy the new MHSAA physical rules. You can see a full explanation of these by CLICKING HERE.
Water and Food — All athletes are strongly encouraged to bring their own water bottles to practices. They are also discouraged from bringing food to practice. Sharing of water or food will be strictly prohibited.
Masks — Athletes should wear a mask to and from practice (including outdoor practices), and may be expected to wear a mask when not directly involved in physical activity.
If you are looking for sport-specific guidelines handed down by the MHSAA, you can find their details plans at the MHSAA Sports Re-Opening Update Center.
Thank you for your help in starting up fall sports in a safe manner. There will undoubtedly be changes as the season progresses, so please check our website periodically, or follow South Haven Athletics on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to contact your son/daughter’s coach, or the South Haven Athletic Office.
