The First Tee of Benton Harbor is offering programming for youth golfers this summer.
First Tee is a nationally respected youth development organization that uses the game of golf to teach life skills and character to students ages 5-18. They provide resources, both virtual and live, to kids wanting to learn the game of golf and have recently opened their programs to include residents of South Haven while following the latest COVID-19 precautions. The following programs are available this summer to South Haven Students:
Now — First Tee is currently offering FREE virtual instruction sessions. These sessions will take the place of regular live golf instruction and no registration is needed. In addition, they are accompanied by a series of videos discussing the First Tee Core Values. The videos will feature celebrity guests such as Benton Harbor graduates and professional athletes Wilson Chandler and Joique Bell.
July 27 — In person classes will begin for students in the older age groups (approximately ages 9 and up) at Harbor Shores Golf Club. Space is limited and participants must register through the First Tee Website. First Tee has specifically reserved two classes for South Haven residents through a private donation. Interested participants should create an account, then email firstname.lastname@example.org to specifically indicate that they are part of the South Haven group.
