The MHSAA has released new information over the last week in regards to sports physicals for the 2020-2021 school year.
In the past, having a completed physical on file was a requirement for any student-athlete who planned to participate in school-sponsored sports. However, given the possible difficulties of getting a physical this summer, the MHSAA has changed the rule for the upcoming school year.
The new rule states that any South Haven Athlete who had a physical on file for the 2019-20 school year will generally NOT be required to get a new one for the upcoming 2020-21 school year. Instead, these students will simply be required to fill out and sign the MHSAA Annual Sports Health Questionnaire, a new MHSAA document which can be found by clicking HERE. These forms will be turned into the schools and kept on file at the SH Athletic Office. This rule applies to all three seasons, not just to 2020 Fall Sports.
Some groups may still need a physical however. Students who wish to play sports in the coming 2020-2021 school year who did not play sports this year, or incoming 6th graders without physicals on file, WILL be required to get a physical before being allowed to play. MHSAA Physical forms can be found by clicking HERE.
The MHSAA has provided a FAQ document regarding the new rules which can be reached by clicking HERE.
