Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced this morning (4/2/20) that public schools in Michigan would end face-to-face learning and effectively close for the rest of the 2019-2020 school year. The MHSAA Website posted the following message soon afterward:
The Michigan High School Athletic Association will announce no later than Friday (April 3) afternoon the status of its 2019-20 Winter and Spring seasons, after the directive by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer closing school buildings and moving education online during her ordered “state of disaster.”
Executive Director Mark Uyl: “We’re reviewing the governor’s announcement, asking questions and will make a statement as we continue to digest this order.”
No further comments will be available at this time. Updates will be posted as necessary.
South Haven Athletics is waiting for guidance from the MHSAA on whether spring sports will continue in some fashion, or whether they will be closed along with the schools. We will communicate the status of spring sports to the community as soon as information becomes available. In the meantime, be smart and safe. Go Rams.
