Both the girls and boys high school track teams competed in the Wolverine Conference Track Championships this past Saturday at Edwardsburg.
For the girls, in the 800m Marnie Frost placed 3rd overall with a time of 2:28, Cate Frost placed 5th with a time of 2:32 and Summer Corke placed 8th with a personal record of 2:35. In the 4×100 the team of Abby Bocock, Summer Corke, Mashayla White, and Jordan Taylor placed 8th with a time of 58.43. In the 4×400 the team of Marnie Frost, Jordan Taylor, Cate Frost, and Ellie Frost placed 4th overall with a time of 4:24. In the field events Ameerah Burton placed 6th overall in the discus with a personal record of 90’01”. In the pole vault Ellie Frost placed second vaulting 9’0.
The boys team, in the field events Kian Ferguson won the long jump and is the Wolverine Conference Champion jumping 19’8″ and Nate Wyant placed 8th jumping 18’05”. In the running events, in the 100m final Andre Cobb placed 4th overall with a time of 11.78 and Brendon Petty placed 6th with a time of 11.88. In the 20om final Andre Cobbs placed 3rd with a time of 23.78 and Brendon Petty placed 7th with a time of 26.54. In the 800m Brian Thompson placed 6th with a personal record of 2:08. In the 1600m Joe Nelson ran a 5:09, a season record and Osvaldo Ruiz ran a personal record of 5:26. In the 4×200 the team of Nate Wyant, Brendon Petty, Andre Cobbs, and Kian Ferguson placed 5th with a time of 1:38.57. In the 4×100 the team of Andre Cobbs, Kian Ferguson, Chris Rainey, and Brendon Petty placed 7th with at time of 47.93. In the 4×800 the team of Joe Nelson, Carson Rooker, Brian Thompson, and Vance Locker placed 6th with a time of 8:48. In the 4×400 the team of Brian Thompson, Chris Rainey, Vance Locker and Nathan Wyant placed 8th with a time of 3:49.85.
South Haven Track will travel to Sturgis this Friday, May 17, to compete in the MHSAA Regional Meet.
